Something old, something blue…….

Earliest hints of Chinoiserie appeared in the early 17th century, in the arts of the nations with active East India Companies, Holland and England, then by mid-17th century, in Portugal as well. Tiny glazed pottery made at Delft and other Dutch towns adopted genuine blue-and-white Ming decoration from the early 17th century.

And we still love it for interior design, blending the many and varied blue & white fabrics in florals, stripes & plains, all tossed together with anything from French Provincial furniture, Asian antiques through to Australian antiques – or a blend of it all.
