A lovely FABRIC STUDIO customer, Jennifer from Brisbane, has sent in a photo of her newly hung O&L ‘DU BARRY’ Wallpaper in Colourway W6013/06 and we are thrilled to post it in WHATS HOT. It looks absolutely perfect in this application where she needed to fill a niche at the top of a stairway landing, and also wanted to complement an antique Asian chest of drawers. Recently ‘The New York Times’ described the Grand Tour in this way: ‘Three hundred years ago, wealthy young Englishmen began taking a post-Oxbridge trek through France and Italy in search of art, culture and the roots of Western civilization. With nearly unlimited funds, aristocratic connections and months (or years) to roam, they commissioned paintings, perfected their language skills and mingled with the upper crust of the Continent’. The INTAGLIO Wallpaper Collection by Zoffany and brought to us by Domestic Textiles, is inspired by and use the distinctive ‘intaglio’ printmaking technique of incising a design into a hard surface to create dynamic wallpapers. Three of these designs draw on the architectural lines of ancient and classical Rome, other designs depict illustrative maps, forests of sycamore trees and a sophisticated smaller scale design of repeated coronets. Seneca and Nina Campbell present PARADISO FABRICS, a collection of elegant fabrics inspired by Dante’s poetry – Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) – and Renaissance Florence. PARADISO WALLPAPERS and the small-scale designs in PARADISO WEAVES provide co-ordinates.

ROSA ALBA – Bouquets of roses in full bloom. Alba roses are hybrids whose antiquity may go back further than the Roman Empire. Pliny (23-79 AD) mentioned white roses in his Natural History which botanists believe to have been Albas.
