I’ve said it before, and I get the chance to say it again, the gorgeous CHIANG MAI DRAGON 100% linen fabric is going to be remembered in history globally as one of the most popular fabrics ever produced by American fabric & wallpaper designers Schumacher. This week Fabric Studio has spied the cover of Australian House & Garden magazine, May ’13 edition, featuring this iconic fabric in colour Aquamarine as covering of two classic shaped armchairs. There are 5 different colourways of Chiang Mai Dragon, but this one is soft yet punchy with the zing of the very ‘now’ tangerine accent colour. The background is breathtaking and I can’t imagine a room scheme that wouldn’t be brightened up by this fabric (even just a couple of cushions). And there’s a little green cushion on one of the chairs in the famous Kelly Wearstler for Schumacher fabric, EMERALD CUT/Lotus Ivory too. See these fabulous timeless fabrics in our online shop here:-

I was thrilled to see an advertisement in the Feb/March 2013 Belle Magazine (p.38), for ‘HELIODOR’ Wallcovering Collection by Arte. I have just installed this stunning and ‘very’ special grassweave ‘LEAF’ design 49052 at my new apartment – we all love it! And the colour mood changes all day, from pewter to charcoal to an almost deep petrol green and swampy grey/brown (oh doesn’t that sound just delicious!!).

Each of the designs in this stunning collection are hand-woven inlaid wallcoverings, made from natural plant fibres on a shimmering metallic ground, with selection of rich colours in each design. The interesting thing is that the design is created by the grassweave being cut and turned, which simply shifts the the way the light strikes it and making the pattern. This wallpaper is sold by the metre. Though we don’t stock Arte in our online shop, we can supply any of these exclusive designer Arte wallpaper and Arte fabric products - email us for more information and for pricing. Design names: Leaf, Cube, Scale.

TANGIER FRAME PRINT 174740 Ocean

A vintage coat dress provided the inspiration for Trina Turk’s TANGIER FRAME PRINT, a bold chevron design, which is interpreted in saturated colours against crisp white acrylic twill grounds (Sunbrella branded fabric). The decorative details are reminiscent of a batik print, which gives it an exotic and tropical vibe. Its dramatic scale is equally suitable for curtains, upholstery and pillows in indoor and outdoor spaces. You can see the 4 amazing colour combinations and the 8 other complimentary designs in our online shop: Trina Turk Collection 2 for Schumacher.

As featured in November 2012 issue of REAL LIVING Magazine.

Inspired by an antique warp printed silk textile discovered by Martyn Lawrence Bullard during his travels, the fabric ‘ADRAS IKAT PRINT’ combines the brilliance of clear colourations with the boldness of a chevron pattern. Something old, something blue…….

Earliest hints of Chinoiserie appeared in the early 17th century, in the arts of the nations with active East India Companies, Holland and England, then by mid-17th century, in Portugal as well. Tiny glazed pottery made at Delft and other Dutch towns adopted genuine blue-and-white Ming decoration from the early 17th century.

And we still love it for interior design, blending the many and varied blue & white fabrics in florals, stripes & plains, all tossed together with anything from French Provincial furniture, Asian antiques through to Australian antiques – or a blend of it all.

The colours are faithful to the original designs in order to perpetuate these historic documents. The slightly darkened backgrounds reflect the passing of time. Morris & Co 'ORCHARD' 220304

‘ORCHARD’

This charming design by Alison Gee, ‘ORCHARD’ was inspired by Morris & Co’s mediaeval tapestries which were woven at Merton Abbey. Small groups of flowers are depicted within a setting of fruit trees.

Morris & Co 'KELMSCOTT TREE EMBROIDERY' 230341 (curtains)

‘KELMSCOTT TREE’ – Print & Embroidery

The inspiration for the design ‘KELMSCOTT TREE’ can be seen on the bed curtains surrounding the four poster bed situated in Morris’ bedroom at Kelmscott Manor. The curtains were embroidered in 1891 by May Morris and friends. The bed hangings were probably made for Morris’ birthday and each curtain took three months to complete. Kelmscott Tree has been painted by Alison Gee in the Morris studio and depicts a large tree surrounded by birds and flowers.
