Palampore, an ancient Hindi-derived word for "bed hanging," has come to refer to the antique hand painted cottons featuring exotic tree of life designs which were made in India and used for highly prized bed curtains in Europe during the eighteenth century. This thoroughly modern design is based on a traditional palampore print of exotic leaves and flowers and is now simplified and interpreted in shimmering viscose embroidery against softly dyed linen grounds.
